Mira Mesa (“table view” in Spanish) is a community and neighborhood in San Diego, California. The Mira Mesa Community Plan area, as recognized by the city, is loosely bounded by Interstate 15 to the east, Interstate 805 to the west, Los Penasquitos Canyon to the north, and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to the south. It is Most of the community plan areas are called Mira Mesa. The community planning area also includes the Sorrento Valley and Sorrento Mesa neighborhoods. As defined by the San Diego Police Department Neighborhood Map, the Mila Mesa neighborhood is loosely bounded by Interstate 15 to the east, Camino Santa Fe to the west, Los Peñasquitos Canyon to the north, and Carroll Canyon to the south.
A new development called 3Roots will start in 2022 at Sorrento Mesa. It will be just east of the Camino Santa Fe, where the quarry owned by Vulcan Materials is currently located. Along with 3Roots, a development called Stone Creek has been added to Mira Mesa and will continue to grow its population in 2025.
Mira Mesa has a population of approximately 80,000, including students, families, and singles. The municipality has over 23,000 households, with an average of 3.09 residents per household. The average age is 32. years old.
Arts and Culture
- The Mira Mesa Street Fair is held on the first Saturday in October at the Camino Ruiz, north of Mira Mesa Boulevard. The Mira Mesa City Council sponsors the fair. HVAC San Diego King
- The annual San Diego Tet Festival occurs over the Lunar New Year weekend at Mira Mesa Park.
- Mira Mesa High School’s Sapphire Sound Marching Band was part of the band that performed at the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The band also performed at the 2016 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, on January 1, 2016. They have also been selected to return to the 2022 Parade. The brass band has 225 members. In 2019, the school’s symphony orchestra and orchestra were invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Sports
- Mira Mesa AYSO Region 285 soccer program is open to all children from age 19 years old.
- Under-12 Mila Mesa Women’s Softball won state championships in 1999, 2005, and 2006.
