La Jolla Cove

La Jolla Cove is a small bay surrounded by ocean in La Jolla, San Diego, California. Point La Jolla forms the southern part of the bay. The area is protected as part of a marine reserve and is popular with snorkelers, divers, and snorkelers. Swelling that often occurs in the ocean can be significant and complex. Water temperatures are generally more relaxed than the San Diego beach average. Although the river has hot areas of dry sand and high-water levels, the shallow pools are exposed during low tide. California sea lions can be found in the canals and rivers, allowing the water to reach its shores, bluffs, and cliffs.

Like the Pacific Ocean seal in the children’s pool, there is controversy about the relationship between humans and sea lions. The Cove Beach is small and sandy, and clear of the water. The cove is a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Swimmers will attempt to swim to Scripps Pier and back, totaling a 3-mile round trip. The Cove hosts several open swimming events throughout the year, including free and 10-mile swimming. Since La Jolla Cove is located within the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park (reservoir), swimming devices such as boogie boards, boogie boards, and paddle boards are not permitted. Instead, the boat enters the canal. As an ecological reserve, fishing is not allowed, and the collection of aquatic invertebrates is prohibited (even for markers or dead shells).

All marine animals are protected by law, including the orange Garibaldi fish common in the lagoon. Hundreds of sea lions call La Jolla Cove home, sometimes seen in the deep waters of the cove or swimming on the rocks. Free parking is limited, and a paid parking lot is on the street. From the park above Anse, a few steps lead down on each side to a “gallery” area with lots of seating. The exhibition center includes the entrance to the port, where the safety board displays helpful information updated throughout the day. From the gallery level, two high steps lead down to the beach itself, although visitors often walk over the rocks to get down to the sand. HVAC San Diego King
