Downtown San Diego is San Diego, California, the eighth largest city in the United States. In 2010, the population of the Center City area exceeded 28,000. Downtown San Diego is San Diego’s cultural and financial hub and central business district, home to over 000 businesses and nine communities. Downtown San Diego was inhabited by the Kumeyaay people, who formerly called the area Tishil and now Seaport. He founded a village called Pushui near the village. San Diego was originally concentrated in the Old Town near the Presidio, a few miles north of what is now downtown. The location was not ideal, miles away from navigable water. 18 9 Lieutenant Andrew B. Gray, a surveyor working with the Boundary Commission to determine the boundaries of California’s new state, suggests that the area closer to San Diego Bay would be a better place for the city because it’s better for trade. He suggested William Heath Davis, who recruited four other investors. Under Davis’ leadership, Partner purchased his 150-acre (65-hectare) land in downtown San Diego. They laid out a road plan for the new town and built a wharf and a warehouse.
